Selling trips guide

List a trip for sale

Put an original trip up for sale, set a price, see what stays public, and understand the permanent lock after the first sale.

What you can sell

You can sell a trip you built yourself, from scratch.

Forked trips can never be sold — however much you change one. If you started from someone else's public trip, the fork mechanism is for your own personal customization, not for commercial resale. To sell a route inspired by someone else's, build it as an original trip.

You must also hold the rights to everything in it: your own words, your own photos, and place data you are permitted to use commercially.

List it

  1. Open the trip and go to its settings.
  2. Select Sell this trip.
  3. Enter a price in dollars. Platix suggests $19 to $79 as a starting range, depending on the trip's depth and specificity.
  4. Review what stays public — the dialog lists it exactly.
  5. Select Start selling.

The trip's visibility switches to premium. Anyone can see its free preview; signed-in buyers can unlock the complete itinerary when purchases are enabled.

What stays public

  • Title, overview, and trip length
  • Day 1 in full
  • The places you stay, day by day
  • Up to three highlights from the locked days

Day 1 does real work: it is what convinces someone to buy, and it is the part search engines can index. Make it genuinely good rather than holding everything back.

Before your first sale — read this twice

Once a trip sells, its itinerary is locked permanently. You will not be able to edit it again. This protects buyers, who paid for a specific plan.

So finish the trip before listing it. Check spelling, check every stop, make sure the days are in the order you mean.

After a sale you can still:

  • Post updates (see Keep a sold trip current)
  • Change the price, for new buyers
  • Stop selling it
  • Publish a revised version as a new trip

Changing your mind

Change the price any time — it applies to new buyers only; nobody is charged again or refunded a difference.

Stop selling any time. Existing buyers keep permanent access; that is part of what they bought. The trip stops being offered to anyone new.

Free listings

A price of $0 is allowed. The trip still requires an account to unlock, which makes it useful as an introduction to your paid work.
