Platix reports creator payments to US tax authorities where the law requires it, using Stripe's tax reporting service. You remain responsible for your own taxes on what you earn.
What Platix collects
Stripe asks for your taxpayer identification number during payout setup and checks it. Platix doesn't receive your full taxpayer identification number. If it's missing or can't be verified, payout setup shows Action required, and payouts may be held until it's fixed.
Which form you get
Where the law requires, Platix issues an IRS Form 1099, or another required form, for the payments you received during the year, and Stripe files it with the IRS and your state on Platix's behalf. Whether you receive a form depends on how much you were paid and on the reporting rules that apply.
The amounts come from the payouts Platix sent you during the year: your weekly payouts covering trip sales and paid reviews.
How you receive it
- Electronically: consent to electronic delivery in Stripe, and the form appears in your Stripe payout dashboard (Creator Studio > Earnings > Open payout dashboard).
- By mail: if you haven't consented to electronic delivery, Stripe mails the form to the address you gave during payout setup.
Forms for a calendar year are issued early the following year, by the IRS deadline.
Backup withholding
If the law requires it, for example because a taxpayer identification number is missing or doesn't match IRS records, Platix may hold payouts or apply backup withholding until the information is corrected.
