Plan beyond the balloon
Balloon flights depend on aviation authority approval and weather. Cancellations are normal safety decisions. Schedule a flight early in the stay if it matters, use a reputable licensed operator, and build a trip that remains worthwhile if it never launches. Watching balloons from a lawful viewpoint is also optional; do not enter private land or unstable terrain for a photograph.
The Göreme Open-Air Museum and other rock-cut churches are culturally and religiously significant. Observe photography restrictions and protect fragile surfaces. Underground cities involve tight passages, stairs and crowds; assess mobility and claustrophobia before entering. Different sites need not be stacked into one tour simply because a route labels them red or green.
Match hikes to conditions
Rose, Red, Love, Pigeon and Ihlara valleys differ in length, access and terrain. Use current trail information, carry water, and avoid exposed routes in severe heat, rain, snow or darkness.
