Let each side of the river keep its character
La Concha and the Centro suit a promenade, the market area, and the city's more formal streets. Parte Vieja is dense with bars and historic lanes, but it is not the whole city. Across the Urumea, Gros has Zurriola beach, surf culture, and a different daytime rhythm. Avoid crossing back and forth for individual food pins; choose an area and let the walk reveal alternatives.
Monte Urgull rises directly from the old town and works naturally with the harbor. Monte Igueldo and the Peine del Viento belong to the western end of the bay. Those viewpoints should anchor separate walking blocks rather than become two climbs in one compressed afternoon.
Make the food plan flexible, not vague
A pintxos crawl works best with a short list and permission to change it. Order one or two specialties, move on, and keep dietary needs or seating requirements in the plan. If a Michelin-level meal is central, reserve it first and make the surrounding day lighter.
